Dolores was born the daughter of Edmond and Cornelia (Sanchez) Charpentier in Santa Monica, California on January 30, 1945. She was married to Robert Engell until his passing in 1985. In 2001 she married Theodore Roupas (her third husband, whom she married, as she put it, "on the third day of the third month of the third millenium"). In Connecticut she worked as an administrative assistant in state government, and was also a representative for Mary Kay Cosmetics and the Longaberger Basket Company. After she retired to North Carolina she attended Bible Baptist Church in Holden Beach.
Dolores was a skilled ballroom dancer, as well as an excellent cook. She enjoyed traveling, both within the United States and to Europe, where Italy was her favorite destination. Living between the Intracoastal Waterway and the ocean in North Carolina, she enjoyed both boating and lounging on the beach.
Dolores was predeceased by her first husband Robert Engell, son Jay Engell, and sister Barbara Pelletier. She is survived by her husband Theodore Roupas, her daughter-in-law Julie Engell, her granddaughter Reilly Engell, and siblings Tomás (Karen) Charpentier and Sandra (Kenneth) Bruns, as well as numerous nieces and nephews (among whom Joseph Pelletier, Jr. was especially close).
No services will be held at this time. Dolores will be interred in Ellington, Connecticut.
