Obituario de Mary Louise (Ralls) Butler
Mary, originally from Leesburg Virginia, age 94 passed away in Roanoke, Virginia, on August 9, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on December 3, 1929, Mary inspired admiration for her independence and hard work. Mary's journey touched the lives of many, leaving behind cherished memories and a legacy of strength and resilience. She had an unwavering spirit in the face of adversity and was an inspiration to all who knew her. Mary loved her family, the Washington Redskins and her work. She was an avid Redskins fan and diligently watched every game she could. Mary’s goal was to work until she was 100. She did not make that goal but stubbornly tried. Mary loved working and to that end worked for Marriott for 47 years before retiring and for Montgomery Wards for 35 years. When she moved to Roanoke in 2013 she was bored and needed to work. She applied to Walmart and began her final career in 2014 with Walmart. She worked up until 5 months ago at the Salem Walmart. She loved her job and coworkers and missed them when she could no longer work. Her family sends special thanks to John, Joyce and Amanda for their kindness and support. During her illness she was supported by some amazing caregivers: Carol, Clara, Peggy, Ashley, and Ginny. She was fortunate to be able to remain in her home until the end because of these folks. Many thanks from the family. Thanks to her neighbors for all of their support, as well. Mary is survived by her daughter, Pam Trigger, son-in-law Allen, and only grandchild, Lillian, her friends at her condo complex, and coworkers at Walmart who will forever hold dear her memory. She will be remembered for her independence and individuality. She had an impact on everyone fortunate enough to have known her. The funeral service to honor and celebrate Mary's life will be held on August 22, 2024 at Blue Ridge Funeral Home in Roanoke, Virginia at 2PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society in memory of Mary. May Mary rest in eternal peace, free from pain, and may her memory continue to bring comfort to those who mourn her passing. As Frank Sinatra would sing, “I did it my way” and that was Mary’s way. Please join us in remembering and celebrating Mary's life. With heartfelt condolences, The Trigger Family
