Kemry was born September 12th, 2003 to Natalie Ann Davis-Smith and Brannen Wayne Smith in Murray, Utah. Kemry was the middle of 3 sisters; Cicely Rose Brock and Brynn Kristine Smith. Kemry was her mama’s lighthouse, her daddy’s little buddy, Cicely’s silly “Goose”, and Brynn’s partner in crime. Kemry’s childhood was full of joy, from days of music to enjoying playing on the playground with her sisters. She loved being with her sisters in any capacity, playing with toys, and occasionally throwing toys at them! Kemry also loved watching movies together as a family. She loved her family and all the attention she would receive from those who loved her.
Kemry’s parents saw that she had some unique challenges in comparison to her sisters when she was nearing a year of age. This eventually culminated in a diagnosis of Rett Syndrome in her early youth. Even with this challenging diagnosis, Kemry remained a source of joy and happiness for all those privileged to meet her. While she would experience a non-typical life due to her rare condition, she had many opportunities to forge new and lasting relationships that led to much delight. She would go on to have excellent experiences during her time at the Kauri Sue Hamilton School in her adolescence and teenage years. The excellent staff that would help Kemry would grow a beautiful relationship with her.
Kemry’s family meant everything to her and over time she gained more family to call her own. She was blessed to have great step-parents, step-siblings, in-laws, cousins, aunts and uncles, grandparents, and a niece and a nephew. All of these wonderful people were such a big part of her world and brought her endless joy. People were her greatest source of happiness. She especially loved to flirt with men! She would often woo them by flashing her magnetic, beautiful smile. She would point at the young men, an invitation to hold her petite hands. Kemry had an awe for animals, especially her dog Blue. He was great for Kemry, spending many hours watching over her, offering comfort and companionship. She also loved Diet Coke, popcorn, nibs, chocolate, and spaghetti— the simplest joys that made her light shine even brighter.
Though Kemry couldn’t speak, her eyes could look into your soul, communicating in ways words never could. She ignited a light in everyone she met, bringing bliss and joy to those who visited her. While she could scream piercingly, her laugh was contagious and her grin could wash away worries with ease. Although she suffered from pain from her various ailments, Kemry was full of glee and love! She was always laughing and smiling, radiating delight and joy to those around her.
Kemry’s family would like to highlight specific people that have spent many hours watching over her and providing the best care possible. Gracie Durrant and Bobbie Sledge provided deep, devoted care that went above typical caregiving and eventually became deep bonds of love for Kemry. The family would also like to highlight the professional manner of Stefanie Dennison of A+ Hospice, who provided information and care during a time of high stress. Through this professionalism, she was able to provide much peace and comfort to the family during this time to ease pains and concerns.
Most would say that Kemry finally got her wings, but in reality, she finally got her legs. She’s now dancing, running, and singing with her grandmas as she watches over her family, friends, and loved ones. We all love you, Kemma, and you will forever be in our hearts.
