David Reed Hofheins

David Reed Hofheins,04/11/54 - 08/18/24, 70 Years old, born in Fort George G. Meade, MD at 9:38 pm on April 11th,1954 to Clifton “Reed” Hofheins and Adeline Lenore Pomeroy. Always wanting to go by Dave in his later years or during his working years, “Hog Body”.

Dave had the pleasure of growing up with his large family with six younger siblings along with his parents, all of whom he loved dearly. Reed, Dave’s father, was lucky to have the opportunity to build his family home in Sandy, Utah. He would later pass on this skillset to Dave and his children. After those pivotal teenage years, Dave leaned into the family business of Masonry/General Contracting. Being an eighth generation mason, he reminded others that he was a direct descendant of those who came to Salt Lake City with Brigham Young. Even though Dave decided not to follow in his family footsteps when it came to religion, he had the pleasure of working with family and close friends for dozens of years. He cherished them and the time spent with them dearly. These middle years were his favorite. He would often reminisce about what he helped accomplish and would share stories from various “jobs”. Dave met the love of his life during this time, Tracy Cassell. Their love led to marriage and the birth of their three children, Ryan, Chelsee, and Riley. Now that he had a family, he knew he had to be a provider, and he would focus on being so for his family until his later years. Even after his golden years, Dave would often take “side-jobs” and work on smaller more residential themed projects. Dave would spend time with Reed, who would often assist even though he was retired, Reed would cherish this extra time with his son. Throughout Dave’s whole life, he enjoyed having a good time and laughing, and everyone knew he was around by hearing the distinctive laugh that could be heard from multiple rooms away.

Dave’s later years were severely affected by multiple strokes. After some rigorous therapy, Dave made a partial recovery and was still able to live independently, which he cherished above all else. After Tracy and, later, his parents passed, Dave kept to himself more and more. Even in these final years, he was more introverted, but he enjoyed all the news of family and the goings on. He felt it best to not tell others how much he enjoyed “being in the loop” he did say in private to close family that he did. The family wants friends and other family to know that he was passionate in life about having fun and being with those you love, so we the family encourage you to reach out and reconnect with your cherished ones, even if they may resist at first!

Dave passed away comfortably due to complications with a stroke on August 18, 2024, at 70 years old. The family would like to thank the staff at IMC emergency and neurological departments. He was treated with respect, his wishes adhered to and they allowed his massive extended family to say their goodbyes. This means more than we believe they will ever know. Thank you dearly.

Survived by his three children, Ryan Hofheins (40), Chelsee Hofheins (36) and Riley Hofheins (35). His many siblings and their partners/significant others, Robert Hofheins and Colleen, Denise Tidwell and Cindy, Deonne Hofheins and Susan, Rick Hofheins and Andrea, Desiree Calley, and Paul Hofheins. There is not enough room to list everyone he is survived by, but know there are many with the last name Hofheins and many more who are known by other names but who are all loved the same.

Preceded in death by his father Reed Hofheins, his mother Adeline Pomeroy-Hofheins, and his sweetheart Tracy Cassell.

In accordance with Dave’s wishes, there will not be any typical services. (I.E. funeral, viewing, wake). Dave detested funerals and other related services. He told his surviving family that he wanted to be remembered in a joyful way. However, a gathering of the family and honored friends are having a Celebration of Life at West Jordan Park pavilion at 7925 South 1300 West, West Jordan, Utah, 84088 on August 31st at 4:30 pm. The family does want those who are interested to know that we plan to have fun and reconnect during these past hard times, so please remember that is the priority. Have fun and reconnect.
