Our kind father, Brent Victor Cummings, passed away at home on June 21st, 2015. Brent was born on April 25th, 1958 to Victor Kelson and Dora LaRee Laker Cummings in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was the youngest of five children. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Kailynne Ince Cummings, who previously passed away in June 2010.
Brent is survived by three children--Kimberley Lyn (Marc) Hawkins, Joshua James (Kristine) Cummings, and Britney Barker, eleven grandchildren and his siblings--Daniel Clyde (Virginia) Cummings, Vicki Cummings (Marinus) Baadsgaard, Corey Laker (Sandy) Cummings, and Val A (Michelle) Cummings.
He is also survived by his dear friend, Ted Cowan.
Brent loved basketball. A die-hard fan of the Utah Jazz, Brent loved to play and watch his favorite sport. He enjoyed being outdoors and spending time in the mountains with his family. He was his happiest spending time with family, be it eating mounds of ice cream, debating politics or playing board games.
Brent was always a hard worker, getting his first job at age fifteen. His work ethic was unparalleled; he refused to do a job half-heartedly. Brent would wear a suit to work every day, even if that work day meant walking into work during the hot summer days.
Brent married his dear Kailynne in July 1977 and they were later sealed in the Salt Lake City Temple. He served as a member of the LDS Church in a variety of callings, always willing to help those in need. He had a firm testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, frequently counseling his family on the blessings of eternal marriage.
Dad, we miss you, but we will see you soon.
