Richard was born in Plaqueminne, Louisiana March 9th, 1940 to Cleveland Leger and Carrie Jaugneaux. Sadly his father passed when he was 2..While working in a restaurant a soldier stationed at Fort Polk from California came in and was smittened by Carrie.. Didn’t take long for the two to fall in love. Jerry Muratore married her and moved the three of them back to California as soon as he could. Richard was a happy child and aware of the times. As soon as he was old enough he would take small jobs, even becoming a paper boy and always gave his paycheck to Mom..
In 1945, his brother Terry Brent was born. It was Terry who gave Richard the nickname “Bubba”.. trying to say Brother as a child.. That name stuck forever! In 1953, his sister Donna Dee came along and Richard watched her like a hawk!!!
He attended the Old Corona High School, running track and graduating in 1957. While attending UCR for the next five years he married Barbara Greisen in 1961.They had 2 beautiful children, Kimberly Ann and Richard Wayne Jr..
In the late 60’s, Mom and Dad who had bought Cupids Drive Inn Restaurant in 1961, turned over the reins to the 2 sons. Terry left after a few years but Richard stayed on running the family business until it was sold in 1991.
Richard and Barbara loved to flip houses. Having lived in quite a few. Fixing them up and reselling them. Eventually they built their dream home in Running Springs, Ca. They loved skiing and all winter sports. Especially loved watching their son on the slopes. He was Olympic material.
In 1987, tragedy struck when his wife and 2 children were killed in an auto accident. Recovery was not easy for Richard. A few years passed and he met Irene Brown also a widow, who turned his life around. They were married. Eventually settling in the City of Hemet.. They loved to travel! Richard loved his Roadsters and of course a huge “Yankee” fan..
They were married until 2005, Irene passed from Pancreatic Cancer. He then moved to Oregon for a bit to be near her daughter. They had grown quite close.. but then again in 2007 brother Terry also succumbed to Pancreatic Cancer.. and Richard decided to move back to California. For the past 13 yrs he has lived with sister Donna and brother in law Bill Carstensen.
On November 20th, 2021, Richard decided it was time to see his family in Heaven, after a brief illness..
They may be celebrating in Heaven but he is missed terribly here on earth!!
