Phyllis was born on December 17, 1947 to George Alec Hughett and Eva Aleta Hughett (née Cooper) in Cincinnati, OH. In 1963, she met Harrison Ray Mahan, and they wed in 1964, going on to have four children, Katherine Aleta, Reba Jean, Richard Wayne, and Brenda Nicole.
After dropping out to start her family, Phyllis went on to earn her diploma from Montebello High School in 1973. She went on to have a successful career in banking, working at Bank of America from 1978 until she retired.
After retiring in 2010, Phyllis spent her time caring for her grandchildren, reading, crocheting, gambling in Laughlin, and playing pinochle with friends.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her mother, Eva Aleta Gline, her father, George Alec Hughett, her brothers George Hughett Jr, Donald Hughett, Billy Gline, and Mike Gline, as well as her son, Richard Mahan.
She will be greatly missed by her surviving daughters, Katherine Henson (Phil) of Hebron, Ky, Reba Gomez (Victor) of Loma Linda, CA, Brenda “Niki” Conde (Ivan) of Riverside, CA, 7 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and 5 siblings.
