Karen Yvonne Rodriguez

Karen Yvonne Rodriguez, of Upland, CA -- devoted mother, companion, sister and friend -- died of complications while recovering from Leukemia on Saturday morning, June 30th, 2018, aged 60, in Duarte, CA.

Born in January, 1958, in Detroit, MI, to the late Joyce T. McCall and the late Marion G. McCall Jr., Karen graduated from Immaculata H.S. in 1976, and from Michigan State University in 1981, with a B.A. in Communications and Media Studies.

Karen spent most of her adult life working hard to support her family, however, in her latter years, she was able to travel, write poetry, become a dance performer, record songs, and even mastered the art of voice-over acting. She was also a licensed real estate appraiser and a Gerson Certified Home Set-up Trainer.

Karen was a happy, spiritual seeker who enjoyed music, healthful meals and, especially, kizomba dancing. She was an active member of the Institute of Divine Metaphysical Research.

Karen is survived by her daughter, Chavé M. Rodriguez; her loving companion and former husband, Freddy Rodriguez; and her brother, Marion G. McCall III.

Family, friends, and others whose lives Karen touched are invited to a memorial service for her on Saturday, July 28th, at 1:00 pm at Pierce Brothers-Crestlawn Mortuary, 11500 Arlington Ave, Riverside, CA 92505.
