Helen Avila

A true Redlands sweetheart, Helen Avila passed away with her family at her side in Redlands on Sunday June 12, 2022. A loving wife and devoted mother, Helen was born July 22, 1928 to parents Jose Maria & Alvina Avila in Redlands California. She was the fifth of eight siblings, six girls and two boys.

She grew up in Redlands in a close knit family. Not long after graduating Redlands High School in 1946, she married Carlos Avila and moved to Los Angeles, eventually settling in Riverside California in 1963. She provided a loving home to her husband and five children for nearly 60 years. She was all about family, working hard to instill the importance of that in her own children. A loved and admired employee at the Riverside County Health Department for 15 years, she was proud of specifically handling the Women, Infants & Children (WIC) program.

She is survived by sister Ruth, brother Richard, daughters Suzanne, Anna, Elizabeth, son Gregg, grandchildren Sean, Nicholas, Anelisse, Gabriel and great-granddaughter Rooney Maeve. Preceded in death by husband, Carlos and son, Steve.

Helen Avila, age 93, of Riverside, California passed away on Sunday, June 12, 2022. Helen was born July 22, 1928 in CA.

A funeral service for Helen will be held Tuesday, July 26, 2022 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Queen of Angels Church, 4824 Jones Ave, Riverside, CA 92505. Following the funeral service will be a graveside service from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM at Riverside National Cemetery, 22495 Van Buren Blvd, Riverside, CA 92518.

The family also warmly invites everyone to a reception following the conclusion of services at 2:00pm at Citrus Park 9400 Dufferin Avenue, Riverside, CA.
