G. WAYNE FROST June 26, 1921 - January 21, 2014 Left this life to join our Lord in Heaven and to be with the angels. Survivors are Joan, his wife of 30 years; step-daughters Kellie and Kristy; step-granddaughter Valerie; sisters Rita and Sandy; daughter April (Brian); granddaughters Brey and Avery; son Wayne Paul; granddaughters Amber and Sarah. Preceded in death by parents, brothers Glen, Jimmy, Charles, and sister, Iris. Resided in Riverside 61 years and practiced dentistry 61 years. He was born in Houston, TX, moved to St. Louis, then to Detroit, next to grandparent's farm in Tenn. during the depression for a few years. Finished Cal-Tech High School in Detroit and went to work at Burroughs Adding Machine Co. as an apprentice. Drafted to Army military service, served in the Pacific and returned home in 1946. Completed apprenticeship in 1948, during this time enrolled at U. of Detroit, evening division, and began pre-dental studies. In 1948 received diploma for apprenticeship and left for California and moved to Pomona, CA and Mt. San Antonio College. Started USC, with the help of the G.I. Bill, in 1949 and graduated in 1953 with a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. Then took and passed the California, Arizona, and National Boards for dentistry. Moved to Riverside and began life as a dentist. Semi-retired January 1991 then continued working part time for dentists who were out of their offices as well as donated time at a children's clinic in Upland and LIGA on Indian reservations in Mexico. Fully retired from dentistry in January 2002. Member of St. Catherines, ADA, CDA, Tri-County Dental Soc., USC Century Club, USC Alumni Club, USC Associates, as will as active in fund raising for US Dental School., was a board member of R.C.H. Cardiac 2000 club, Birdmen, Riverside Pilots and LIGA. Loved life and had a delightful Irish humor. Loved people - loved dentistry. He was a gentleman and a gentle man. Funeral and Mass Wednesday February 5, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. St. Catherines Catholic Church, 7005 Brockton Ave. Riverside. Final Resting Place: Riverside National Cemetery, Wednesday, February 5, 2014 at 12:30 pm.
