Harold Morene Copening

Harold “Bubba” Morene Copening, 82, formerly of Bassett, Virginia, departed this life on April 5, 2017. He was born July 17, 1934 in Henry County to the late Eugene and Mattie Lee Copening. He was also preceded in death by: sons, Charlie A. Copening, Harold Lenoyd Copening; and brothers, Lynwood Eugene Copening and Larry Darnell Copening. He retired from Bassett Furniture Company after 43 years of service. Harold was well known in the Bassett community. Harold leaves to cherish his memories; one daughter, Sharon (James) Scales; two sons, Robert Terrance (Melissa) Copening, and Victor (Cecile) Copening; two brothers, L. George (Patricia) Copening, and Carl (Sharon) Copening; sisters, Gladys Fonville, Lillie (Matthew) Akridge, Nancy (William) Manns, Paulette Copening, Shirley Price, and Laverne Copening11grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. His funeral will be held at 12:00 P.M. on Friday, April 14 at Meadow Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) 1140 Meadowood Trail, Martinsville, VA 24112. Visitation will be held thirty minutes prior to the service. Arrangements under the direction of Community Funeral Services, Ridgeway, VA.
