Theodore W. Robinson, 94, a resident of The Orchard in Ridgeland, Mississippi, died September 21, 2011. Mr. Robinson, known as “Ted” to his friends, was born on February 18, 1917 in Belmont, Massachusetts. He was the son of Mabel W. Robinson and Raymond C. Robinson. He attended the University of Colorado, the Chicago Art institute and Chicago’s American Academy of Art, from which he graduated in 1941.
Mr. Robinson was married on August 4, 1941 to Margaret Watkins Hulen (deceased) of Jackson, Mississippi. He received a commission in the U.S. Army’s Corp of Engineers in early 1942 and served during WWII in Europe until December 1945. His working years were spent as an advertising artist in Chicago, Illinois; Chattanooga, Tennessee; and Jackson, Mississippi.
Ted Robinson was the father of two children, Frances R. Childress and Alden W. Robinson (deceased). He is survived by his daughter; two grandchildren, Jason Childress and Andrew Childress; his younger brother, Alden Robinson; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service for Mr. Robinson will be held at 1:30 PM on Monday, September 26, at The Orchard Retirement Community, 600 South Pear Orchard Road, Ridgeland, MS 39157. There will also be a private family graveside service held at Lakewood Memorial Park at a later date.
Ted Robinson was truly a gracious man, beloved by all who knew him. Memorial contributions can be made to Stewpot Community Services in Jackson, Mississippi.
