Robert Singleton Nutt, Jr. passed away Sunday, December 13, 2015 just after celebrating his 89th birthday. Bob was born December 5, 1926 in Ludlow, MS to Robert Singleton Nutt, Sr. and Myrtle Cater Nutt.
Bob served in the U.S. Army in two wars: WWII and the Korean War. After his military service, his working career was in Houston, TX where he worked for TransContinental Gas Pipeline Company for 33 years. After retirement, he and his wife returned to Madison, MS.
Bob married the love of his life, Charleen Allison, also from Ludlow, MS. They attended kindergarten together and by the 9th grade fell in love. They had 68 years together.
Bob is survived by wife Charleen and children Stephaney Nutt Cogbill of Houston, TX, Sasan Nutt Griffin of Macon, GA, and Stephen Allison Nutt of Corpus Christi, TX, Grandchildren Jayson Robert Cogbill, Weldon Griffin and Patrick Daugherty; and several great-grands.
Bob is also survived by a host of friends at First Baptist Church Madison where they were active members since returning to Madison. Bob was a “Gentle Giant” who loved to laugh and make others laugh. He will be missed.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, December 16, 2015 from 9:30 to 11:30 am with a service held at 11:30 am at Parkway Funeral Home, Highland Colony Parkway, Ridgeland, MS. Interment will follow at Canton Cemetery.
