Patricia Ann McDonough Rice Hubbard, 87, affectionately known as “Patsy or Pat” by her friends and family, passed away peacefully on May 2nd, 2023. Patsy attended Grand Junction High School graduating in 1953 and then attended Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska where she met and married the love of her life Grantland Loren Rice of Valley, Nebraska. For a number of years Patsy worked for the State of Iowa and then held numerous key positions working for Jackson Ready Mix and then working up to Vice President of Construction Operations for Copeland and Johns in Jackson, Mississippi. Anyone who worked with Patsy can attest to her efficiency, her drive and determination. Her skills of organizing, cleaning and her strong work ethics was one to be admired by all.
Patsy is preceded in death by her parents, Dr. Francis J. McDonough and Zerrie Avis Peck McDonough, sister, Mary Avis McDonough, Clinton, MS. She was the granddaughter of the late Joseph McDonough and Nora Sullivan McDonough of Salida, Colorado and John Francis Peck and Osa Oberia Warner Peck of Gunnison, Colorado. Pat is survived by brother, Francis James “Jim” McDonough and (wife, the Late Beryl “Sis” Wolfe McDonough) of Highland Park, Illinois, Sister Audre Frances (husband, the Late Leon Edward James) of Grand Junction, Colorado, Daughter Renee Ann Aldrich (Husband, Jay) of Topeka, Kansas, Sharon Marie Mitchell (Husband, Willie) of Hayward, California, Daughter Mary McLaurin of Ridgeland (Husband, Thad), Son Brian L. Rice of Topeka, Kansas, Son Kelly G. Rice (wife, Michelle) of Byram, MS.
Patsy had 13 wonderful grandchildren Angie Tilley of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Amy Tilley of Benson, Nebraska, Rachael Hamer (Dan) of Gardnerville, Nevada, Jeremiah Aldrich of Fort Belvoir, Virginia, Anthony Aldrich (Govinda) of Topeka, Kansas, Andrea Law (Casey) of Fort Riley, KS, Roger Ashton and of San Diego, CA, Vasna Ashton Severe of Waldorf, MD and Sai Pin Ashton of Norwalk, CT. Grant and Chris Carraway of Ridgeland, MS; Melissa McCloskey of Snowshoe, PA, Ashley Sager of Bellefonte, PA, Jacob Sager of Byram, Melinda Rice of Suffolk, Virginia and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She treasured her children, siblings, cousins, nieces, nephews and longtime faithful friends and neighbors.
At Pat’s final request, a private family service will be held in the rose, bird & butterfly garden at her home in Clinton, Mississippi. Memorials may be made in lieu of flowers to Catholic Charities of Jackson, MS
