1934. She was happily married to her husband Robert Allen Filgo, Sr. for over 46 years before his death in 2005. Together they raised their children, Bob and Trish, in Canton where Pat enjoyed homemaking and serving as church pianist for 40 years at First Baptist Church of Canton. A marvelous cook and an avid gardener, Pat enjoyed entertaining friends and family in her home. She enjoyed traveling and making memories with her best friends Jean Cook, Peggy Kennedy, Lou McDonald, and Eloise Stringer, called “the fabulous five” by many. After the death of her husband, Pat moved to Ridgeland where she joined First Baptist Church of Ridgeland, sang in the choir, and spent much of her free time with her granddaughters who affectionately call her “Gammy.”
Pat is survived by her brother, James Mayfield of Vaiden; her daughter, Trish Filgo (Warren) Smith of Brandon; her son, Dr. Bob (Courtney) Filgo of Madison; her granddaughters, Wesley, Wenston and Willa Filgo, all of Madison; her niece, Dana Mayfield (Mark) Moore of Vaiden; and her nephews, Mr. James Marcus Moore of Vaiden and Mr. Guy (Sis) Hovis of Ridgeland.
A visitation will be held on Friday, March 24th from 5 pm to 7 pm at Parkway Funeral Home in Ridgeland. A graveside service will take place at Canton Cemetery on Saturday, March 25th at 2 pm.
Pat dedicated her musical gifts in service to the Lord. Prior to her passing, she requested that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the First Baptist Church of Jackson Orchestra Scholarship Fund which provides scholarships for college students to play their musical instruments for God’s glory in hopes that they continue to serve Him with their gifts.
