Dr. John Robert Fuller passed away on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, after waging a hard-fought battle against pancreatic cancer. John was born on July 19, 1948, in Hattiesburg, MS. He was the only child of the late John David Fuller and Ola Mae Adams Fuller. John was a 1966 graduate of R.H. Watkins High School.
He attended Mississippi State University, graduating in 1970 with a Bachelor of Science degree. He then continued his educated at Auburn University, graduating in 1974 as a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine.
John loved all of God’s creatures and served them well as a respected vet for over 30 years at Fuller Animal Hospital. After hanging up his stethoscope in 2007, he began a thirteen-year career with the USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service, retiring in 2020. He was also a faithful member of Madison Church of Christ.
He is survived by his wife, Bettye Michael Fuller; three daughters, Kathryn (Brad) McMahan, Mary Craven and Jane Fuller; and two stepchildren. Whether they called him “Grandpa” or “Dude,” he was loved and adored by his seven grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
The visitation for Dr. Fuller will be held from four until six o’clock in the evening on Friday, May 24th, at Parkway Funeral Home in Ridgeland, MS. Burial will be held at a later date in Frankstown, MS. Parkway Funeral Home and Water Funeral Home are assisting the family.
