Mr. Anderson was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Doris Beebe Anderson. He is survived by his sister, Jacqui Anderson French of Maitland, Florida; daughter Susan Marquez and son-in-law Larry Marquez of Madison, Mississippi; daughter Sarah Jordan and son-in-law Robert Jordan of College Grove, Tennessee; grandchildren Nicole Marquez and her husband, Joe Gravier of New Orleans, Louisiana; Lauren Jordan of Nashville, Tennessee; Joseph Marquez of Phoenix, Arizona; and Matthew Jordan and his wife, Jamie Jordan, of Lexington, Kentucky.
Mr. Anderson was a native of Meridian, Mississippi. He was a founding member of St. Mark’s Methodist Church and more recently attended Still Water Church at The Waterford, where he resided.
In his youth, Mr. Anderson attained the high honor of Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America. A World War II veteran, he served in the U.S. Army in Amsterdam and Germany.
Mr. Anderson attended the University of Alabama where he was a member of the Kappa Sigma fraternity and earned a bachelor’s degree in business.
He spent most of his career at AC/Delco, a division of General Motors Corporation. A member of the sales team, Mr. Anderson called on car dealerships and repair shops throughout the mid-South where he made many lifelong friends.
He was a long-time member of the Northeast Jackson Exchange Club, where he was actively involved in raising money for the charities the club supported.
After his retirement from GM in the mid-1980s, Mr. Anderson became an accomplished woodworker. He was a member of the Magnolia Woodturners and the Pearl River WoodCarvers, often doing demonstrations at the Mississippi Agricultural and Forestry Museum.
The funeral will be held at Parkway Funeral Home in Ridgeland, Mississippi on Tuesday, September 1, 2020. Inside visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. (limited to 10 people at a time, masks required). Graveside service at 11:00 a.m. (limited to 20 people, masks required. Overflow will be allowed to stand outside tent). Dr. David Raddin of Still Water Church will be presiding.
