Brenda was born in Charleston South Carolina on September 14, 1944. She grew up in Jackson Mississippi where she graduated from Central High School and Hinds Community College. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother with a genuine loving and giving spirit. She was a devout Christian and a member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church. She took great pleasure in spending time with her family and especially her grandchildren. All of her family, including many nieces and nephews, looked to her for wisdom, guidance and creative talents.
Brenda worked under former Jackson Mayor Dale Danks and was currently the director of the Mississippi Children’s Advocacy Center where she passionately strived to improve the lives of abused children.
Brenda was preceded in death by her parents Thomas L. and Vera Dixon of Jackson MS her sisters Bobbye Jean Bowering of Jackson MS, Laverne Sutfin of Jacson MS, her brother Jimmy Dixon. She has a surviving brother-in-law Buddy Bowering and sister-in-law Cathy Dixon.
She is survived by her loving husband of 20, years Jim Luster and her three children, Kevin Jenkins of Los Angeles, CA, Terri Linn Huff (Bill) of Brentwood, TN and Jeff Jenkins of Madison, MS and her grandchildren; Hannah Huff, Brandon Huff, Jacob Jenkins, Jane Claire Jenkins, Kailey Luster, and Jillian Luster. She is also survived by her step children, James, Michael, Randy, and Leigh Anne Luster.
She will greatly miss her affectionate dog Harley.
Visitation will be Thursday, March 14, 5-7 pm and Friday 1-2 pm with funeral service to follow:Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home Parkway Location
