William “Bill” H. Raines II, 81 of Richmond, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 3, 2023.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Tessie Bowles Raines; and a brother, Charles “Buddy” Raines.
Bill was a former teacher at Meadowood Christian School, Faith Landmarks Christian School and East End Christian Academy, as well as a Network Operator working for Best Products, Wheat First Butcher Singer and then Bank of America. Bill loved reading, fishing, drawing, researching world history and tutoring students. Bill was passionate about sharing his love for the Lord, wanting everyone to know that they too could be saved.
He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Jessie Motes Raines; daughters, Tricia Bell and her husband, Ken Bell, Pamela Elliott and her husband, Tracy Elliott; a son, Will Raines; grandchildren, Brian Bell, Caleb Bell, Cara Raines and Megan Barrick; great grandchildren, Caroline Barrick and Amelia Barrick; sister-in-law, Sara Raines and niece, Pattie Raines; and a caregiver whom he thought of as family, Will Caffrey.
The family will receive friends, 6 to 8 pm, Thursday, December 7 at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave, Richmond, VA 23231 and again from 10 am until service time at 12 pm at East End Assembly of God, 3294 Britton Road, Richmond, VA 23231.
Interment will follow at Washington Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggest donations be made payable to East End Assembly of God for BGMC (Boys and Girls Mission Challenge) or Light for the Lost.
