He will finally get to round out a foursome of golf with his friends, Pete, Joe, and Jerry. Billy was preceded in death by his mother, Ruby Edwards Gaulding; father, William Henry Gaulding, Sr.; brother, Edward Ray Gaulding; and sister, Jerry G. Thompson.
He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Joy Mayer Gaulding; sons, William Henry Gaulding, III (Melissa), Christopher Wayne Gaulding; grandchildren, Austin Tomas Gaulding, Taylor Nicole Gaulding; siblings, Janice G. Edgar (Sam), Gary Anthony Gaulding (Connie); sister-in-law, Phyllis G. Blake (John); several cousins, nieces, and nephews; as well as some very special friends at New Bridge Baptist Church.
Billy was a very kind and compassionate man who was always considerate of others. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and golf most of his life and as frequently as possible. Billy retired as a welder with Plumbers and Steamfitters Local #10 where he was a member for 57 years. He worked the last 20 years with I.C.S.E. in Ashland.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, July 20, at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., Richmond, Va. 23231. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, July 21, at New Bridge Baptist Church, 5701 Elko Rd., Sandston, Va. 23150 with interment to follow in Washington Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to New Bridge Baptist Church Building Fund.
