Timothy Edwards

Edwards, Timothy Scott, 53, of Henrico, passed away on April 4, 2017, from cholangiocarcinoma, a rare and aggressive form of cancer. Tim was born in Walla Walla, Washington, and grew up in Roanoke, Virginia. He graduated from the University of Richmond in 1986 with a B.A. in sociology. He rejoined the University of Richmond community in 1987 as part of the law library staff, working first in the circulation department and later in the technical services area as the library associate for collection management. It was in the law library that Tim met his future wife, Ginny Adkins, who graduated from the law school in 1988. A passionate sports fan, Tim enjoyed all sports, but he had a special place in his heart for baseball, the great American pastime. He followed the Richmond Spiders baseball team closely for many years, tracking statistics for parents and fans, filling in occasionally as a game announcer, and traveling often with the team. He also took various trips throughout the United States and enjoyed visiting state capitals and exploring the scenic wonders of the Great West. In recent years, Tim had become reacquainted with his birthplace and returned there several times to cheer on the Whitman College men’s and women’s basketball teams. He is survived by his wife of 24 years and soul mate, Ginny; his parents, Tom and Shelby Edwards; his sister, Karen Donohue; niece, Eleanor Donohue; and nephew, Thomas Donohue. In addition, he will be greatly missed by many uncles, aunts, cousins, friends, and colleagues. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, April 29, at 10 a.m. at the Cannon Memorial Chapel of the University of Richmond. A private ceremony will take place later in Walla Walla, where he had planned to retire in a few years and where now his ashes will be laid to rest.
