Stephen Davis Whitson

Whitson, Stephen D., 57, of Henrico, VA went to his heavenly home on April 6, 2023. He was predeceased by his father, Hunter Whitson. He is survived by his wife of 13 years, Michelle Whitson; his mother, Kathryn Whitson; brother Todd Whitson; his Aunt Mary, cousins and many nieces, nephews and friends who miss him greatly. His life was a service to others. He served both in the National Guard and Army Reserves for 18 years as an MP. He was deployed to Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Kuwait, and Germany and received numerous medals to include Bronze Stars. Stephen was employed with Henrico County with 32.5 years of service. He served 17 years as a career Firefighter for Henrico County and was stationed at firehouse #2 and #17. He was part of the Search and Rescue Dive Team as well as the Burn Team. Prior to that, he was with the Henrico Sheriff's Department for 16 years serving the courts. Steve loved his family and was always thinking of everyone else. He enjoyed amateur radio, wood working and chatting with friends. He was there if you needed him or someone to just bend an ear with. He was quick to drop what he was doing and help anyone. Steve was a gentle, loving, giving and thoughtful husband, son, brother and friend who will be sorely missed. Family and friends will be received Tuesday, April 18 at Woody Funeral Home, 1771 Parham Rd., from 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 pm. Funeral service will be held Wednesday, April 19, 12 noon at Fairmount Christian Church, 6502 Creighton Rd., Mechanicsville, Virginia. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
