OBITUARIO

Stephen Barry Dolan, Sr.

Obituario de Stephen Barry Dolan, Sr.
Stephen Barry Dolan, Sr., age 61, of Manakin-Sabot, Virginia, who was full of life and love, died suddenly on Friday, November 8, 2019, surrounded by his family. He was a Richmond native, and was the youngest of five children of the late John and Linda Dolan. He proudly served in the United States Army and worked in electronic test equipment sales for most of his career. He graduated from Douglas Freeman High School and attended LeTourneau University. His greatest accomplishment, however, was being the patriarch of the Dolan family. In 1981, he married Dana Deskin and they were a devoted couple for 29 years. Together they enjoyed a rich life that included raising their children. Steve was preceded in death by his daughter, Molly Rose, and wife, Dana. After the loss of his wife in 2011, Stephen became the anchor and strength of their family, selflessly leading the pack of five children. His later years were enjoyed with his fiancé, Lou Anne Tiller. His legacy will live on through his five children, Erin Russell (Steven), Meghan Thomas (Richard), Ginny Perry (Nicholas), Stephen Dolan Jr. (Carly) and Delanie Edwards (Matthew); fiancé, Lou Anne Tiller ;and grandchildren, Haddie, Collins, Addy, Nate, Kennedy, and Nash. Steve is also survived by his four siblings, John Dolan (Hannah), Edward Dolan (Anne), Donna Jackson and Faye Williard (George Ayers); as well as many nieces and nephews. Steve never met a selfie or a Snapchat filter he didn’t like. He was the family historian, constantly capturing pictures/videos of everything and everyone. He was never without a joke that was so corny you just had to laugh. Steve was his five children’s biggest fan, diligently attending all of their activities, whether it was a game, play, competition, or performance, he was there cheering them on. He remained steadfast in his devotion to his ever growing family, which included two-legged and four-legged members. Steve was an animal lover and advocate, he leaves behind his three dogs Mickey, Roscoe, and Bella. He enjoyed being Poppa to his grandkids. He will be greatly missed. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 13, 2019 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Woody's Funeral Home, 1771 N. Parham Rd., Richmond, VA 23229. A Memorial Mass will be held Thursday, November 14, 2019 at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 9505 Gayton Rd., Richmond, VA 23229.
