Robert Swift Cross

Robert S. Cross, 88, of Richmond, VA passed away on Tuesday, October 29, 2013. He was born to the late Atwill and Camilla Cross on September 24, 1925 in Hanover, VA. Robert was a graduate of U of R and Indiana University. He was a vice president of Richmond Federal Savings & Loan and taught school for Henrico County. Robert was a member and past president of the Optimist Club of Richmond, a member of the Richmond West Camp Gideon’s International Ministry, and a 32nd degree Master Mason, Richmond Lodge #10. He enjoyed growing tomatoes and loved exercising at the Tuckahoe YMCA. Robert was preceded in death by his daughter, Alison C. Abbitt and brothers; Douglas Cross and A.B. Cross. He is survived by his beloved wife Barbara Cross, two children; Robert Stafford Cross, Robin C. Ritter (Todd), son-in-law Andrew Abbitt and three grandchildren Carter, Zack and Kate. The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 31, 2013 from 2:00 to 4:00pm at the Woody Funeral Home, 1771 N. Parham Rd, Richmond, VA. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Friday, November 1, 2013 at 11:00am with interment to follow at Westhampton Memorial Park. Many thanks to the Asera Hospice caretakers.
