Mary Oakes Babcock

Mary Oakes Babcock, 36, of New Kent, went to be with the Lord Saturday, May 6, 2017. She is survived by her parents, Wilma Oakes and John Oakes; her beloved children, Margaret “Maggie” Oakes and John “Jacy” Babcock; and her brother, Micah Oakes. She is loved by many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. She met the love of her life, Alan Joyce, who continuously made her smile and is with her today. Mary’s happiest times were spent with her children at the baseball field, gymnastics and cheering competitions. She was an employee of Henrico County Public Schools. She loved Bash and Elsie, her miniature pigs and her river place. Visitation will be at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., Richmond, Va. 23231 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, May 11, where funeral services will be held Friday, May 12, at 11 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Bank of America in her children's name.
