Mrs. Leach was born in High Point, North Carolina on April 27, 1922, the ninth and last child of the late Lonnie Caleb Beal and his wife Isa Eunice, nee Phillips. After graduating from High Point High School in 1941, she attended business school and worked in the professional world until meeting the man of her dreams. United in marriage to Lt. Timothy Leach August 31, 1946, life’s journeys took them from North Carolina to Missouri to Germany to Texas to Virginia. Her husband passed away much too soon in 1978, but her love and devotion to his memory never faded. She eventually relocated from Alexandria to the Richmond area, where she lived for the last 28 years. Markie, as she was known, was a devoted wife and a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 32 years, Maj. Timothy Leach (US Army, Ret.), her son Timothy Leach, four brothers, and four sisters.
Left to cherish her memory are son Jeffrey Mark Leach and wife Nancy; three grandchildren, Timothy Leach, Christopher Leach, and Catherine Leach; two great-granddaughters, Caroline Leach and Olivia Leach; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
The last laugh was shared, the final smile was bright, and all the joys were treasured. Free from loss, free from pain, free from uncertainty; free at last to reunite in God's Glory with her beloved husband, and all the loved ones that went before her. She will be sorely missed.
The family will receive friends on Sunday December 27 from 5pm to 6pm. A chapel service will follow immediately at Woody Funeral Home, 1771 N. Parham Road, Richmond, VA
Arrangements for interment at Arlington National Cemetery will be completed at a later date. Those wishing to make a memorial contribution may consider the charity of your choice.
