Marcellus Douglas North Jr.

Marcellus Douglas North, Jr., of Henrico, VA, passed away peacefully at his home on July 6, 2024. M.D. North was born to Marcellus Douglas North, Sr., and Helen Emily Hinton on June 28,1934, in Norfolk Virginia. He attended Granby High School, and Virginia Polytechnic Institute as a Corp Cadet. He was a member of the Highty-Tighties Regimental Band. He graduated from VPI in 1956 with a degree in Industrial Arts and was always a proud Hokie. He served in the Army National Guard of Virginia for six years. Most of his work experience was in the area of purchasing, and he retired from Sutton and Clark Supply in 2009. He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Francy B. North. He is survived by his brother, Walter G. North, (wife Mary), four children, Alissa N. Hudson, (husband Tracy), Cammy N. Halley, Benjamin North, (wife Marie), and Marcellus Douglas North, III., four grandchildren and one niece. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
