Keith T. Berry
February 14, 1929 - May 1 2019
Keith Berry, of Sandston, Virginia, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 1st, at the age of 90, after a long battle with cancer. He was our forever Valentine, born on February 14th, 1929, in Richmond, Virginia. He was predeceased by his parents, Rodney and Carol Berry; his brother, Rodney, Jr.; and his son-in-law, John Wray. Keith is survived by his wife of 69 years, Jackie; his sister, Mary Lee Seward, of Newark, Delaware; his two loving daughters, Susan Wray, of Virginia Beach, and Courtney (Russell) Wirt, of Richmond; his four adored grandchildren, Jordan and Sarah Wray, Bryson (Jessica) and Jacob Wirt; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Keith attended Thomas Jefferson High School in Richmond, Virginia, until enlisting in the U.S. Army in 1946. Keith served in the Army, where he was part of the 82nd Airborne Division, PFC, until his honorable discharge in 1948. He then returned to high school and obtained his GED.
Keith was a salesman at heart. His compassion and determination were evident through his many career paths as President of Pollution Control Corporation, National Sales Manager of Auto Pak Company, Truck Equipment Corporation, and Gallant, Inc. Keith took a break from sales and began his own business, Keith T. Berry Antiques, while training under M. E. Shamburger, learning the repairing and restoring of antique furniture. Many of his beautiful pieces remain in the homes of friends and family today. His passion for sales never waivered. For the past 25 years, up until he took his last breath, he ran Design Service, Inc. He designed and installed seasonal banners and decorations in shopping centers up and down the east coast. He took pride in the relationships he built with his clients, and has maintained them for all these years.
Keith was a lover of all things NASCAR! After Richard Petty retired, he would always root for the underdog. This says a lot about his character. Keith loved his family, and would do anything he possibly could for them. Giving to others was what made him the man he was. His favorite store was a thrift store he called the "Jesus Store". When he passed, it was only fitting that numerous donations be made to them, as a way to give back.
There will be a Memorial Service on Saturday, May 11th, at 10AM, at Bon Air Baptist Church - James River Campus, 2440 Hancroft Dr., Midlothian, Virginia, 23113. Light reception to follow. Burial will be private at a later date. In keeping with Keith's bright spirit, please wear bright colors.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a contribution to Keith's Memorial Fund, to help defray medical costs and funeral expenses:
