John Lee Brammer

He was the son of Noah Grover Brammer (1893-1980) and Lucy May Dalton Brammer (1901-1997).

He was a graduate of Bassett High School and Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech) class of 1950. As a respected member of the Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets, he served on the Honor Court. After graduation, he got a job with Bassett Furniture as a trainee and married his college sweetheart. Soon after he was called to active duty in the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict and served as a Lieutenant. Returning from Korea, Brammer settled in Bassett Forks, Virginia and went back to work at Bassett Furniture as a purchasing agent and worked his way up to Vice President and Director of Purchasing for Bassett Furniture Industries.

Brammer was married to Elsie Bryant Thomasson (1931-1987) who died of cancer and is survived by his two sons Kenneth Wayne Brammer, Lee Alan Brammer, their wives Kathy and Lindy, 4 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and his present wife Minnie Willis Brammer in Richmond, Virginia.

His love for making things kept him busy in his workshop on his wood turning lathe. Many of his hand crafted items have been sold all over the world to others that appreciated his attention to detail. A kind and gentle man with a warm smile will be missed by all.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or American Cancer Society.

Memorial service will be held at Nelsen Funeral Home on Laburnum Avenue in Richmond, VA Thursday, November 14 at 2pm, and burial later on at Henry Memorial Park near Bassett, Virginia.
