Born September 30, 1946, in Chardon, Ohio, to Joan "Jody" B. George [Kral] Geil and Warren S. Geil. He graduated from Chardon High School and earned a degree in Chemical Engineering from the Florida Institute of Technology. He made significant contributions to the field of printed circuit boards throughout his career.
Jerry served with the 25th Infantry Division, 4th Battalion, 23rd Mechanized, in Tay Ninh and Củ Chi, Vietnam. His main awards include the Bronze Star Medal, Valorous Unit Award, Vietnam Service Medal with 4 Bronze Stars, and the Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm Unit Citation, along with other honors.
A lifelong learner and passionate about amateur radio, Jerry earned an Amateur Extra license and inspired younger generations through initiatives like “Jamboree-on-the-Air.” He also enjoyed fishing, flying, and sharing his love for the outdoors.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 46 years, Tonya Geil, children Sheri Geil-Greene, Joseph Geil, Jody Geil-Matassa, and Sarah Geil-Duke, Jennifer Maupin-Geil, Richard Geil,his sister Mary C. (Robert) Thompson, and several grandchildren as well as numerous extended family and friends.
A celebration of his life will be held on Sunday, January 5, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. at Woody’s Funeral Home, 1771 N. Parham Rd, Richmond, VA 23229.
