Eric Eugene Strohecker, 59, of Henrico, VA, went to be with the Lord on October 26, 2013. After a short battle with cancer, Eric was brought home with Hospice of Virginia to pass peacefully in his home surrounded by family and loved ones. He was preceded in death by his father Oswell Eve Strohecker Jr; Grandfather Oswell Eve Strohecker Sr.; Grandmother Lucy Mae Strohecker, Grandfather Williams C. Gibbs, Grandmother Zula Carlisle, and Nephew Sean Michael Strohecker. Eric is survived by his mother, Audrey “Ducky” Strohecker; loving wife of 30 years Patty Jean Strohecker; children: Angela Parsons (Charles), James Grimsley (Caroline), Blain Grimsley, Shane Grimsley; Grandchildren: April Jones, Ashley Jones, Daryl Jones (Amanda), Logan Grimsley; Great-Grandsons: Jeremiah Jones, Lawrence Overton; Brothers: Keith Strohecker (Fiona), Marc Strohecker (Linda); Nieces: Jasmine Sadri, Michelle Strohecker; his protective four legged companion Paco; and a host of loving aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family, and neighbors. Eric was born in Henrico, VA to Oswell E. and Audrey “Ducky” Strohecker. Eric was best known as “Papa.” Being a stay-at-home Grandpa was his favorite job. His great-grandsons were the light of his life. Eric was best known for his compassion for children and love of black and white westerns. He is remembered by all saying “Dammit Jean!” A celebration of life will be held at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave. Richmond, VA 23231 at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, October 30, 2013. Interment Private. In lieu of flowers, Eric requests that his loved ones “do something fun” with family and friends. We miss you already, Papa! Cheers to Eric, our guardian angel.
