She retired from Philip Morris after 31 years of service.
Edith was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who loved to spend time with her family. She especially enjoyed trips to Gwynn’s Island. She took great pride in her home, meticulously cleaning non-stop, and ensuring that her children always had what they needed to look and feel their best. She enjoyed Rock and Roll music, playing all sorts of games, and she loved flowers.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Edward Norwood Newbill; children, Linda Starling (Richard), Lana Simmons, Theresa Carter (Roy), Jeffrey Thomas III; grandchildren, Holly Texter, William Scott Starling, Jason Starling, Michael Simmons, Roger Simmons Jr., Wendy Davis, Stacey Overton, Roy Carter Jr., Lorrie Colbert, Nikki Williams; as well as numerous great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 15, at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., Richmond, Va. 23231 with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Washington Memorial Park.
