Doris Spencer Pope

POPE, Doris Spencer, 83, of Henrico, passed away on Tuesday, June 23, 2015 at home. She is preceded in death by her parents, Felix Gamewell Spencer, Sr. and Janie Barnhill Spencer; brother, Felix Gamewell Spencer, Jr.; husband, Charles Luther Powers; and son, Charles Raymond Powers. Doris is survived by her husband of 37 years, Donald Ryan Pope; son, Michael (Pam) Gregory Powers; step daughters, Pamela (Roger) Pope Bohnke, Vicki (Clyde) Pope Gibson; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Doris was a lifetime member of New Bridge Baptist Church where she served as the WMU Leader and Sunday school teacher. Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 25 from 2:00 – 4:00 & 6:00 – 8:00pm at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave. Richmond. Funeral service will be held on Friday, June 26 at 11:00am at New Bridge Baptist Church, 5701 Elko Rd. Sandston with Reverend Robert Edwards officiating. Burial will follow at Washington Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the American Cancer Society.
