She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Luther L. Sykes Jr. Left to cherish her memory is her son, Mark Jeffrey Sykes of Henrico, Va.; and her grandson, Luke Christian Sykes of San Diego, Calif.
Mrs. Sykes was born in North Carolina on June 21, 1926. She was an active member of the Richmond First Pentecostal Holiness Church for many years and most recently a member of Oakwood Memorial Baptist Church. Her life was devoted to the service of God and her family. Mrs. Sykes walked with God every day and fully depended on him.
The family will receive friends on Friday, January 27, 2023 from 1 to 2 p.m. at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., Richmond, Va. 23231 where a service will immediately follow at 2 p.m. Interment will be in Washington Memorial Park.
