Benny was born in Enterprise, Mississippi, on July 25, 1937; he was the late son of Benjamin Floyd Jones and Flora Carlisle Jones. Benny graduated from Quitman High School where he went on to study Business Administration and play football at Jones County Community College, where he met Glenda.
Benny was honorably discharged from the United States Air Force in 1968. He and Glenda then moved to Richmond, Virginia where he finished his degree at University of Richmond. He embarked on a long, successful career in medical and transcription sales. As a devoted businessman and entrepreneur, he valued the relationships built with colleagues and clients.
He was a true southern gentleman. Benny had an innate ability to make people feel understood and appreciated. He was a listening ear, a pillar of strength and had unwavering faith in the Lord. His sense of humor was one of his best qualities admired by all. He was a loving husband, father, brother and son. He adored his 7 grandchildren and 6 great-grandsons. Benny was a friend who will be missed by many.
He is preceded in death by his father, Benjamin Floyd Jones, mother, Flora Carlisle Jones, brothers, Billy and Thomas Jones, his loving wife of 60 years, Glenda Ann Sims Jones, and daughter, Tyra Jones Wagner.
He is survived by his sister, Jean Jones Hamrick, son, Ben Jones (Melissa), and daughter, Tanya Jones Mason; 7 grandchildren; Corbin Tilson, Crossley Lowther (Chip), Abbie Wagner (Billy), Anne Sims Thompson (Matthew), Kathryn Edwards (James), Carson Jones and Dylan Jones; along with 6 great-grandsons; Kase Edwards, Brooks Edwards, Cole Edwards, Moore Thompson, Hayes Thompson and Jack Tilson.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of your choice.
Internment will be held privately.
