Parker, Ballard Raymond III, 75, of Henrico, passed away peacefully on February 13, 2018. Ballard was married for over 52 years to Betty Williams Parker, his childhood sweetheart, who survives him. Ballard and Betty enjoyed raising their family, spending time with their four grandchildren and fulfilling a lifetime dream of travel together. Raised in Lynchburg, Virginia, Ballard was a 1965 graduate of Virginia Tech, where he was a business administration major and member of C Squadron in the Cadet Corps. He enjoyed a fulfilling 43-year career as a senior vice president in charge of institutional trading for Richmond’s major financial institutions.
Ballard was a member and past president of the Richmond Bond Club and was a member and officer of the Bond Club of Virginia. He was a member of the Richmond Gentry, Farmington Country Club, and served as a member of Chesterfield County’s Committee on the Future, as well as a number of philanthropic and civic organizations. He was an active member of River Road Presbyterian Church and a trustee for the endowment fund.
A devoted husband, father and grandfather, Ballard’s grandchildren were his pride and joy and he cherished his time with them. His positive outlook on life, and his courage during his brief illness, was an inspiration to all who knew him.
In addition to his wife, also left to cherish Ballard’s memory are his daughters Jennifer Parker Everett (Michael) and Katherine Parker Jonas (Ritter), both of Richmond, Virginia, and four grandchildren, Caroline Parker Everett, Andrew Michael Everett, Austin Elizabeth Jonas and Abigail Ritter Jonas. Also surviving are his brother, Michael Alan Parker (Debra) and three nephews, Michael Aaron Parker, Philip Logan Parker, Matthew Adam Parker and their families.
The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to River Road Presbyterian Church. Following a private burial, a service celebrating Ballard’s life will be held Saturday, February 17, 2018 at River Road Presbyterian Church at 2:00 p.m.
The family is grateful for the love, support and prayers from all Betty and Ballard’s friends, and his doctors and nurses who gave him such good care. Online condolences at www.woodyfuneralhomeparham.com.
