A celebration of life for Samel will be held Friday, October 18, 2024 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church, 831 S 43rd St, Richmond, CA 94804. Following the celebration of life will be a committal service from 2:30 PM to 3:00 PM at Rolling Hills Memorial Park, 4100 Hilltop Dr, Richmond, CA 94803.
She entered the world on January 7, 1935, in Plain Dealings, LA from the union of Clarence and Ida Williams being the 10th and last child of that union.
Her family relocated to Seaport, CA in 1944, when she was 9 years old and the family later settled in Oakland, CA. She attended El Cerrito High School and after graduating found employment with the federal government working at Mare Island in Vallejo and later at Naval Supply Center in Oakland.
She received Christ at an early age under the leadership of Reverend C. E. Richardson at Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church in Richmond, CA. She later would support/attend Ephesian Church of God In Christ in Berkeley, CA with her sister, Charlene Williams under the leadership of Bishop Johnathan D. Logan, Sr. before relocating to Georgia. The church became a guiding light for her in which she passionately followed her faith throughout her lifetime.
On November 16, 1958, Samel married Robert Lowe and settled in Richmond, CA where they were blessed with two children, daughter, Robin La Juan and son, Aaron Clinton.
After her retirement from Federal Government, Samel enjoyed attending church, traveling and fulfilling her role as an evangelist spreading the word of God to others.
Samel peacefully transitioned on September 27, 2024. She is survived by her 2 children, Robin Morris (Anthony) of Decatur, GA and Aaron Lowe of the Philippines; 3 grandchildren, Rico Delano Lejon Lowe, Robert Anthony and Brooke Alexandria Morris; 2 great-grandchildren, Liberty Alaya Sadie and Royalty Delana LaTrice Lowe; and a host of relatives, church members, and dear family friends.
