Mrs. Carolyn Deloris Sims Sanders, age 59, of Richmond, California passed away on Friday, May 6, 2022. She was born on August 12, 1962, to the proud parents of Carl and Adell Sims Gully in Rolling Fork, Mississippi.
She attended grade school in the area and received her high school diploma in 1980. While in high school Carolyn became a cheerleader. God blessed her to give birth to twin daughters, Racquelle and Rachelle, in August of 1980. She loved and nourished them. They were the apple of her eyes and the center of her universe.
In 1982, like many other families, Carolyn relocated to San Francisco, CA for a better life. One of Carolyn’s passions was taking care of people so, she furthered her education and enrolled into a nursing program. She graduated from the program in the mid-80s and obtained a license as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA).
In 1996, Carolyn and her girls moved to Richmond, CA. It was during this time that Carolyn followed another passion which was teaching children to read and write, as well as, steering them in the right direction. She encouraged all children to make good grades and aspired them to further their education.
Carolyn loved the Lord with all of her heart, soul, and mind. In addition, she loved to listen to good, sound biblical teaching. She and her first husband, John T. Adams became members of the Word of Faith Church in San Pablo, CA under the leadership of Pastor Freddie and Lady Deatta Parham. During that time, Carolyn was a member of the choir and the Worship team. Later on, the couple moved their membership to Victory Outreach Richmond Church. Carolyn also was a member of their Worship team.
One of Carolyn’s favorite Bible verses was Matthew 18:20, “For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.” Knowing that God is always near brought much comfort to Carolyn …not to mark down the imperfections; but to enlighten, strengthen, comfort, and save from certain without Him.
Carolyn loved to pray, praise & worship the God of her salvation, as was evidenced by her gentle spirit, humble character, and forgiving nature. She was an avid fan of the 49ers and Warriors, profoundly loved, highly respected, and cherished by her community, family, and friends. She brought joy, laughter, compassion, loyalty, devotion, and empathy into all of her relationships. She made those who were close to her, better than before she met them.
God allowed Carolyn to be joined in marriage once again, to Weber Sanders. Theirs was love at first sight. Their loving relationship bloomed and on August 22, 2021, the two were united in holy matrimony at Christian Tabernacle Church (CTC) in Oakland, CA.
Her beautiful life and sweet and precious memory will always be cherished by her loving family, classmates in Mississippi, co-workers, and other dear friends.
The Public Viewing is from 11:00 AM to 12:50 PM on Wednesday, June 8, 2022. A Celebration of her life will be held at 1:00 PM at Fuller Funerals, Inc, 3100 Cutting Blvd, Richmond, CA 94804.
