Tho Vinh Huynh came over to the United States in 1975 as a refugee and was later sponsored by St. Pius Catholic Church with his family along with his mom, sister-in-law, nieces, and nephews. Tho and his wife made sure that all of his nieces and nephews graduated from college before reuniting with their parents 15 years later. Learning to acclimatize to the new city of Dallas required finding opportunities such as working his first job at Howmet Aluminum building door frames with limited English in order to provide for his large family at 14. As an immigrant, Tho showed unwavering commitment and determination latern as an assembly line worker at Xerox. He even ventured out and opened a convenience store. A-Plus Grocery, in hopes of forging a path to ensure a brighter future for his family. After several years, he then decided to sell their business and worked at Fujitsu for nearly 20 years and retired in 2012 to take care of his daughter Vy.
Throughout his life, Tho gained fulfillment in participating in the Vietnamese community and volunteer opportunities at the Catholic Church. Apart from church, he found happiness in gardening and spending time with his grandchildren during their late-night sleepovers. Memories of Tho's smile, laughter, and unconditional love will be forever cherished not only by his loved ones but by everyone that he encountered.
