Sandra Kay Casey Gros lived a full life of family, community, art, and teaching. She was born in Chicago, IL to Donald E. Casey and Kathryn M. Casey and spent her early life it Pittsburg, PA along with her brother Steven Overman Casey. After moving to Texas, she attended Trinity University in San Antonio where she met her husband of over 50 years, Charles Leo Gros. Together they started a family in Richardson and had two daughters, Kaylynn and Casey.
One of Sandy's greatest passions in life was teaching. She was able to impact the lives of hundreds of students and their families and work together with exceptional colleagues. She also enjoyed weekly bridge playing, the St. Barnabas Presbyterian Church community, her book club, her "book club," meeting with her "Bagel Ladies," and spending time with those she loved.
Sandy passed in her sleep early in the morning on August 18, 2022, surrounded by her family. She is survived by her husband Charlie Gros, her daughter and son-in-law Kaylynn and Allen Weir, her daughter Casey Gros, and her brother and sister-in-law Steve and Janet Casey.
Sandy's bright spirit will be dearly missed. Her Remembrance of Life service will be held at St. Barnabas Presbyterian Church on Saturday, August 27th at 2:00 and will also be live streamed on saintb.org. Attendees are encouraged to wear color in celebration of Sandy's rich and vibrant personality.
