Miles Owen Wallace

We are heartbroken to announce the passing of Miles Owen Wallace of Cedar Park, Texas. Miles passed at the age of 63 on November 12, 2024. Miles passed away suddenly following a lengthy battle with illness. A Celebration of Life and gathering of friends and loved ones will be held at Sparkman Funeral Home in Richardson, Texas on Saturday, November 23, with visitation from 12:30-1:00, Memorial service from 1:00-2:00, and reception & fellowship from 2:00-4:00.

Miles Wallace was born on October 4, 1961. He was the youngest of five children born to Glen Dean Wallace and Juanita Lee Wallace. Miles married Shona Hannaford in 1991. To this union was born one child, Nicole Loren Wallace. This beautiful redhead made her appearance on March 24, 1992, and from that moment to the present, she was the apple of his eye.

Miles was predeceased by his mother, Juanita Wallace, and his niece, Carrie Walpole, and survived by: his father, Glen Wallace; daughter, Nicole Wallace and her mother, Shona Scouten; brother, Alan Wallace and wife, Elizabeth, and their children and grandchildren; sister, Alisa Chapmond and husband, Ron; brother Randy Wallace and wife, Ruth and their son and grandsons; and sister, Renita Wallace, and her daughter and granddaughter; and many dear friends.

Miles graduated with honors from Bridge City High School in 1980. He made a profession of faith as a young man and took it very seriously. He was a strong Christian influence through his junior high, high school, and college years. He was a leader in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. He was faithful in his service at the First Baptist Church in his hometown.

He attended Hardin Simmons University for a year and then went to Baylor University, graduating with a degree in accounting near the top of his class. After working in the field of accounting for a while, he decided to pursue other endeavors, including additional studies at UT-Austin and later UT-Arlington. Miles went into computer programming and worked his way up to a senior software developer. After many successful years in this career, Miles just retired in 2023.

Miles was a passionate man! He had many interests, to name a few: Dancing, from novice to professional, with trophies earned and deserved for the discipline of hours in practice and preparation; Motorcycle riding, to which he would credit his sister, Renita, for having introduced him to her bike. He purchased a Harley Davidson Street Glide and found new freedom on the open road; Miles had a beautiful voice and was self-taught on guitar. He enjoyed water skiing, kayaking, river rafting, and scuba diving. He enjoyed sports and was a big, but long-suffering, Dallas Cowboys fan. He was a big Dallas Mavericks fan and also had a love of tennis.

His love for family and friends was deep and genuine. He spoke often of David Dotson, not just as his best friend, but like a brother. His favorite times and greatest joy were his time spent with his daughter, Nicole, or spending time with his siblings and friends. He had love and great concern for our country and was passionate about following and staying informed.

While we grieve the loss of a most beloved dad, friend, and brother, we will cherish our memories of him. He has been a rock to many and a master at sarcastic humor and witty timing to others. We will miss Miles deeply.
