Our beloved mother and grandmother, Mildred Margene (Millie) Mack, passed away on February 14, 2016 in Plano, Texas. She was born on September 26, 1930 to Ina and Jonah Coon in McCullough, Alabama. Millie was dedicated to her love of service and volunteering. She supported the Lupus Foundation of Texas in Dallas, the Women’s Forum, and Altar Guild of the Episcopal Church of the Transfiguration. She was also an avid supporter of the Richardson community and its people and her beloved Texas Rangers.
Millie worked for more than 50 years alongside accountants and business owners in her career. She was the epitome of the true Southern lady in every aspect of her life. Millie was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Leon Mack, by her parents, her brothers Joe Frank, David and Buford Coon, and her sisters, Gladys Helton and Berniece Presley. She is survived by her daughters, Libby Hassell and Drucilla Kirk and husband, David; grandchildren, Courtney Moffett and husband, Jed, Caylor Kirk, Jonathan Hassell, Derek Kirk and Patrick Hassell; great-grandchildren, Aydan Hassell and Bethany, Charlotte, Cate, William and Emma Moffett; sister, Gwen Dorriety as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A service will be held to celebrate Millie’s life on Friday, February 19, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at The Episcopal Church of the Transfiguration, 14115 Hillcrest Rd. in Dallas. A reception will follow at the church.
In lieu of flowers, donations to celebrate Millie’s life can be made to the Lupus Foundation of America, the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children, or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. We wish to extend our gratitude to the many caregivers at Presbyterian Village North who were so instrumental in the love and care of our mother and grandmother over the past five years.
