Gordon Charles Swanson

Gordon C. Swanson was born September 11, 1923 in Freeport, IL and passed away January 24, 2011 in Richardson, TX. Gordon worked as a CPA and CFO of Power – Lift in Irving, TX. Upon his retirement Gordon spent time volunteering for Network of Community Ministries for 19 years. His passion for helping people also included volunteer work in teaching ESL at the First Baptist Church in Richardson. He was a long time member of Ascension Lutheran Church in Garland, TX, where he attended with his loving wife Audrey. When Gordon wasn’t doing volunteer work he was spending time with his family, and taking numerous cruises in which he was able to see a lot of the world.

He is preceded in death by a daughter, Marcia Shives and brother Kenneth G. Swanson. Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Audrey, daughters; Nanci Perkins of Moline, IL, Debra Swanson of Rockford, IL, Wendy Klein and husband Will of Austin, TX, sister; Mildred Aue of Cannon City, CO, grandchildren; Jason and Jeremy Shives, Amanda Mannina, Scott and Nicolas Perkins and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial Service will be held 10:30 AM, Saturday, January 29, 2011 at Ascension Lutheran Church 4230 W. Buckingham Rd., Garland, TX 75042, Dr. Kurt Friederich officiating. In Lieu of flowers donations may be made to Network of Community Ministries, 741 S. Sherman St., Richardson, TX 75081 or Ascension Lutheran Church Memorial Fund.
