Carl E Booker

Carl E. Booker was born in Dallas, TX, on January 17th, 1924. He was called home on May 29th, 2014. Carl graduated from Sunset High School in Dallas and was later drafted for military service in January of 1943. He served his country faithfully during World War II and attained the rank of Sergeant before receiving an Honorable Discharge in February, 1946. Carl attended SMU, and was employed with the Dallas VA Hospital, then VA Insurance. For many years, Carl worked for Aetna insurance company in both their Kansas City and Dallas offices. After retiring from Aetna, Carl and his wife Nellie earned their Real Estate licenses together and worked for Ebby Halliday Realtors in the same office. Carl was a member of the Dallas Elks Lodge, and was a 32nd Degree Mason. He was also a longtime member of United Disciples Christian Church in Richardson, TX. He was married to his wife Nellie, for 54 years before being preceded in death by her in 2010. He is survived by his three children, Dande, Rocky, and Kent, six grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. A memorial service to honor Carl’s life will be held at United Disciples Christian Church on Saturday, June 7th, at 11:00 a.m.
