On November 20th, 1954, in the small village of Guzhen, China, proud parents Su, Guo Tian and Ou, Cai Hua welcomed a beautiful baby boy into this world with a heart of gold and named him Su, Zhao Jin. Jin means gold.
In 1979, while still in China he married the love of his life, Cindy (Cai Xai). In the early 80’s Zhao Jin pioneered to America to start a new life in hopes for a better future for him and his family. Having saved just enough money for plane tickets for him and his family to immigrate, they stayed with his eldest sister Anna for a while, then shortly after settled in Seattle. He was a high school graduate from China and didn’t speak a word of English. Navigating in a new foreign land was hard but he was able to befriend fellow Chinese Americans and found work as a chef in a Chinese restaurant. He remained as chef his whole professional career.
Although Zhao Jin enjoyed his life in America, he never forgot where he came from. He also missed his friends and family in China dearly, especially his mother, and over the years he and Cindy took many trips to China to visit them and explore the beautiful country. He truly cherished the many livelong bonds he created both in America and China. On many occasions, when friends and family from China visited Seattle, they would seek Zhao Jin out to show them a good time, and Zhao Jin was always happy to oblige.
