The youngest child of Irish immigrants, Terrence ("Terry") was born on April 24, 1939 in the Bronx, NY. After graduating from Christian Brothers' Rice High School in Harlem in 1957, he enlisted in the US Air Force where he served for "4 years, 6 months and 15 days". He married Catherine Lee in 1965. They relocated to Washington State in 1979 with their three daughters. Terry worked in the telecommunications industry for over 30 years, starting at "Ma Bell" in Manhattan and retiring from Qwest Communications in Renton.
Terry was a parishioner at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Renton for 40 years. He was a proud member of the Communications Workers of America, the Irish Heritage Club of Seattle, and the American Legion.
Terry never met a stranger. He enjoyed discussing current events and politics. He was a good storyteller, a generous tipper, an avid reader, and a lover of history and John LeCarre novels. He rooted for the NY Mets and Giants, any team from a school that his children or grandchildren attended, and the underdog. As a devoted and supportive grandfather, he attended countless band performances and athletic events. He will be dearly missed.
Terry is survived by his wife of 54 years, Catherine; his daughters Bridget of Arlington, VA, Katie (Malcolm) Grothe of Burien, WA, and Alice (David) Shepard of Seattle, WA; grandchildren Patrick Grothe, and James and Mary Bridget Shepard; his sister Elizabeth (Sr. Breda Boyle, CSJP) of Teaneck, NJ; sister-in-law Mary (McGowan) of Dumont, NJ; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Bridget (O'Donnell), his brothers William and James, his sister Mary (Suszczynski), and brother-in-law John Suszczynski.
