Shelbi was born in Bellevue, Washington on April 30, 1993 to Holly and Paul Lakeman. She was baptized at Children’s Hospital in Seattle. Shelbi grew up in Newcastle, Washington and graduated from Hazen High School. Shelbi recently completed a flight attendant training program in Minnesota and was very excited to begin work as a flight attendant for Mesa Airlines. Shelbi was especially looking forward to the travel and adventure that her new job would bring her.
Shelbi loved the color Pink. She also liked to cook, and to go fishing and camping with friends and family. Shelbi enjoyed the outdoors and had recently gone ice-fishing in Minnesota. Shelbi lived life the way she wanted to and on her own terms. She was open-minded and care-free, and never let anything get her down. Shelbi was not afraid of what someone else might think of her; she did what she wanted to. She was a loving, positive, kind person who was generous to a fault. Her courage and spirit were truly exceptional. From her very first day of life, Shelbi was an inspiration to all who knew her.
Shelbi is survived by her mother Holly, father Paul, step-mother Paige, step-father Jon, sister Taylor, brother Cameron, and numerous grand-parents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and other extended family members.
We will celebrate Shelbi’s life during a Memorial Service at 11:00 a.m. on January 26, 2017, at Saint Madeleine Sophie Catholic Church in Bellevue, Washington. All are welcome to attend. In lieu of flowers please donate to Saint Madeleine’s Saint Theresa’s Guild which provides services to families through the Parish or to Children’s Hospital.
Shelbi’s family is sad she is gone, but grateful for the 24 precious years they had with her.
