Leah passed away January 23, 2011 peacefully in Phoenix, Arizona. Her parents were Edward and Hilda Johnson in Park City, Utah. Leah had two sisters, Doris and Alpha and a brother Robert. She married Hugh Humphrey on January 24, 1934 and celebrated 71 years of marriage together. Leah was preceded in death by her husband Hugh, parents Edward & Hilda, sisters Doris & Alpha, son Carl and daughter-in-law Linda.
Leah is survived by daughters Bonnie (Bob) Bronk of Ocean
Shores and Connie (Dan) Sill of Camano Island: sons Glen (Norma) Humphrey of Sequim, Dean (Janet) Humphrey of Glendale, AZ, daughter-in-law Harrilee Humphrey Behrbaum of Camano Island: 11 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren: numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Leah and Hugh moved their family from Utah to Renton Washington in 1946. For 33 years Leah made a home for the family in Renton on 192nd Street. In 1952 they purchased beach front property on Driftwood Shores and in 1979 retired to Camano.
Leah enjoyed getting out her typewriter and typing letters to family and friends. Letters often included some interesting articles that she clipped from the newspapers or magazines.
Hugh and Leah loved to fish, camp, and ride motorbikes with their friends. Home away from home was Humphrey’s Huddle Hut travel trailer in which they spent many years traveling the west and spending winters in Arizona. Leah kept a journal of their travels recording dates, locations and friend they visited during their travels. She loved to square dance to a polka and was a member of the Maple Valley Grange for many years.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Camano Senior Center or Stanwood-Camano Food Bank. Services and interment were held January 29, 2011 at Greenwood Memorial Park in Renton.
