April 29, 1959 – August 26, 2015
Laurie Jean Sundesten (nee Fant) passed away August 26th 2015 at University of Washington Medical Center surrounded by her loving family.
Laurie was born in Redwood City, CA to Joseph M. Fant and Betty Jo-Ann Walker. Her early childhood was spent in San Mateo CA, Spokane WA and Arlington VA before the Fant family settled in the Somerset neighborhood of Bellevue, WA. Laurie attended and graduated from Newport High School. During that time while working at her after school job at Jack in the Box, she met the love of her life, Neal Sundesten. Laurie and Neal were married on June 6, 1976 and nearly two years later started the next chapter of their life welcoming their children into the world. Two of the happiest days of her life were when she gave birth to Nicholas Brian (3/18/1979) and Christopher Adam (6/24/1981). Together Laurie and Neal owned and operated a very successful electrical contracting company, built their dream home, enjoyed sunny vacations, and watched their two boys grow up to have families of their own. Laurie became Lala to her family and friends when the Sundesten family was blessed with 3 healthy grandchildren.
Laurie was always known for her glowing smile, generosity, hospitality, determination, hard work and strength. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Laurie’s favorite times were spent with family and friends at the Sundesten home in Desert Aire, enjoying time in the sun with her favorite country artist Toby Keith playing in the background. Laurie lived for all of life’s special moments like spending time with her loving husband Neal, hosting parties, watching her grandchildren play in the pool, decorating for the holidays, and enjoying a glass of champagne in the Desert Aire hot tub on weekend mornings.
Laurie is survived by her loving husband Neal, sons Nicholas (Erica Sundesten), Christopher (Jenna Sundesten), 3 grandchildren, Ashlyn (9), Ryder (4), and Hudson (3 months), sisters Barbara Ranta (Rick Ranta) and Debbie Daniels (Scott Daniels), brother Jim Fant (Sandy Fant) as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Laurie will be sadly missed by all who have had a chance to spend time with her. The world is without a doubt a lesser place without her and heaven has been given a special angel. Her memory will live on through everyone she has touched. This is not a good bye but rather a see you again. We love you so much Lala!
