Frank Downing from Hobart, Washington, passed away peacefully on November 1, 2023. Frank was born on March 5, 1933, in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho to Burt and Lucy Downing.
Frank graduated from Tahoma High School in 1952 then served in the United States Air Force from 1952-1956 as an aircraft mechanic. After the service he came home and worked at, and eventually owned, Downing Auto Rebuild in Hobart until he retired in 1995.
Frank is survived by his wife of 68 years , Betty Downing, his children Gregg (Becky) Downing and Stacey (Scott) Dahmen and grandchildren Tommy, Stephanie, Jarrod, Jason, Shayna, Jordan and Sara as well as 7 great grandchildren and sister Juanita Reynolds
Frank and Betty were united in marriage on February 18th 1958 in Renton, Washington, creating a bond of unwavering love and partnership for almost 70 years.
Frank enjoyed traveling, working on his cars and spending time with friends and family. Frank was competitive by nature he loved participating in bowling, horseshoes, card games and much more.
Franks legacy is in the lives that he touched and the memories he created with his family and friends. His enduring spirit, kindness, and love will forever be remembered by all who knew him.
The Downing and Dahmen families would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude for the outpouring of love and support during this difficult time.
A memorial service will be held at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, Washington on November 16th, 2023 at 11:00am followed by a celebration of life at the Hobart Community Church.
